📈 STOCK UP

🔼 New Cats. The 2024-25 men’s basketball team roster has two new names on the roster— Lamont Butler and Otega Oweh. Butler is well known for hitting the game-winning buzzer-beater shot for San Diego State in the 2023 Final Four. He averaged 7.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game in the 131 he played with the Aztecs. He has one season of eligibility remaining.

Oweh was at Oklahoma for two years and played in 60 games. He made 37 starts and averaged 11.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. He will have two seasons of eligibility with Kentucky.

🔼 Running in Rain. The track and field team competed in the Drake Relays this past weekend and persevered through wet, windy and stormy conditions to pick up seven automatic qualifiers in day one. On day two, both the men’s and the women’s programs won the Drake Relays Cup. It’s the second time in program history the women have won it and the first for the men.

The women had victories in the 4×100, 4×400, 4×800, and sprint medley relays. The men won the 4×100 and 4×400 meter relays and had two third-place finishes in the 4×800 and sprint medley relay. The men’s 4×100 team broke the 1995 38.81 school record with a time of 38.66. Charity Hufnagel is now the school record holder for her 1.85m high jump.

🔼 Season Finale. The men’s golf team competed in the SEC Championships, and Alex Goff was the top finished for Kentucky. He tied for 14th place with an overall score of 208 (-2). He also was named the 2024 Men’s Golf SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year. He is a graduate student pursuing his master’s in business administration and is the captain of the team. Goff is also one of the top golfers in program history.

🔵 ONE BIG THING

Well Deserved. The Southeastern Conference named men’s tennis head coach Cedric Kauffmann SEC Coach of the Year. Kauffmann led the Cats to a 24-2 overall record and 12-0 conference season. It was the second time in program history the team won both the SEC title and the SEC tournament title in the same season. Kauffmann is in his 12th season at Kentucky, and he is the third coach in UK history to win Coach of the Year.
