The men's basketball team adds Amari Williams to its roster.

🔵 The Official Daily Newsletter For Kentucky Athletics

Good Morning. Let’s go back to when Mark Pope played basketball at Kentucky, and the team had this cheer.

What else are we mixing into today’s Brew?

🏀 Amari Williams signed with MBB
🏀 New assistant coaches Cody Fueger, Jason Hart
🔵 And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 New Cat. The men’s basketball team has a new player joining the 2024-25 team roster. Amari Williams is a 6’11” forward who is a three-time conference defensive player of the year. He recently played at Drexel, where he played 105 games and made 79 starts. Williams ranked first in blocked shots per game in the CAA, fifth in total rebounds per game and sixth in both offensive and defensive boards per game.

🔼 Stacking the Staff. The men’s basketball team has two new additions to the staff— assistant coach Cody Fueger and Jason Hart. Fueger is the first person Mark Pope has hired since starting at Kentucky. The duo have been working together for 11 years, dating back to their time at Utah Valley and BYU. Fueger was named one of the most impactful mid-major assistant coaches in Division I men’s basketball by Silver Waves Media in 2022 and 2023.

Hart is a nine-year NBA veteran who has coached at high school, collegiate and professional levels. He most recently was the head coach for the NBA G-League Ignite squad, coaching Jaden Hardy, Scoot Henderson, Matas Buzelis and Ron Holland.

🔼 Reflecting Good Times. Senior pitcher Stephanie Schoonover has had quite the season. She has been at Kentucky since 2020 and has pitched 329.2 innings so far. Andrew Kappes from UK Sports Network interviewed Schoonover, and she got a little emotional reflecting on her time with the program.

🔵 ONE BIG THING

First Timer. The Southeastern Conference named pitcher Sydney Langdon Freshman of the Week after throwing her first SEC win on Sunday night against Auburn. This is also her first career SEC honor. She only allowed one run and two hits and struck out five batters. Langdon threw 107 pitches, and 65 of those were strikes.
