🔼 HOF! Kentucky Athletics Hall of Famer and 1998 National Champion head coach, Orlando “Tubby” Smith was named to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2026. In Smith’s inaugural season with the Cats, he led them to the program’s seventh national championship. He led UK to 22 or more victories in all 10 of his seasons at the helm from 1998-2007, winning five Southeastern Conference regular season crowns and five SEC Tournament championships. The Class of 2026 will be enshrined on Oct. 22 at the the College Basketball Experience in Kansas City, Missouri.

🔼 Welcome! The stunt team has a new assistant coach! Payton McHugh will join the staff for the 2026-27 season. She recently was a member of the stunt team at Davenport University from 2022-2025. She and her team won two national championships during her career. McHugh was a two-time team captain for the Panthers, who won four consecutive Great Midwest Athletic Conference titles during her career. McHugh was also a member of the Davenport cheerleading squad, which won three national titles during her four-year career.
