📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Hold Up. The men’s and women’s golf teams competed in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, and the weather was not friendly on the final day. The men’s round three was canceled, so their final score was only after 36 holes. The team finished in eighth place, hitting +19 to par. Alex Goff shot the best for Kentucky, being one under after two rounds, tying him for eighth place individually.

The women also had round three of the tournament canceled. The Wildcats finished in tenth place with a total score of 614 (+38) after 36 holes. Lane Frye finished in ninth place on an even-par 144. This was Frye’s third top-15 finish this season and her sixth straight.

🔼 Take a Plunge. Both the men and the women got to touch the water today against Indiana for a swim and dive meet. The divers started the day off, and Sam Duncan placed second in the 3-meter and third in the 1-meter, while Gavin Hang took sixth in the 1-meter. For the women, Claire McDaniels ranked fourth in the 1-meter, and Abby Devereaux took second in the 3-meter.

For the swim portion of the event, Caroline Benda and Ryan Merani were the top point scorers, totaling 13 points each for their teams. Benda took first in the 800m freestyle, and Merani won the 200m butterfly. The Wildcats fell short to Indiana but look to come back home on Oct. 13 for their first meet win of the season.

🔵 ONE BIG THING

In the Spotlight. Kentucky men’s basketball head coach John Calipari will be presented the John R. Wooden Award Legends of Coaching honor on April 12, 2024. The award is given to a coach based on their character, success on the court, graduation rate of student-athletes in their basketball program, coaching philosophy, and identification with the goals.

Calipari has completed 14 seasons at Kentucky and led six teams to the Final Four. He even helped 58 players earn selection in the NBA draft during his 31-year college coaching career. Calipari has won many other awards and does so much to help the Wildcats that the Legends of Coaching Award is well deserved.
