🔼 New Staff. The football team announced the hiring of four new staff members. Leah Barnard was named the Assistant Director of Recruiting. She was a former student worker and recruiting operations assistant for the Cats. John “Hova” Herron was named the acquisition coordinator. He brings nearly three decades of coaching, leadership and talent evaluation experience. Dillon Sanders was named the inside linebackers coach. He returns to Lexington for his second stint with the Wildcats after serving as a defensive assistant from 2016-2018. Rob Snyder will be an assistant defensive line coach. He spent time at Illinois State and Nicholls State where he built strong defensive units.

Guess Who. This baseball player announced he will be returning to Kentucky for another season. This will be the infielder’s fourth season with the Cats. He led the team with 19 doubles, 12 home runs, tied for the lead with three triples and was second on the squad with 52 runs scored.

🔵 ONE BIG THING

🔼 HOF. UK Athletics Hall of Famer and 1996 National Champion Ron Mercer was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. Mercer played at Kentucky during the 1996 and 1997 seasons. He was consensus first team All-American, a two-time member of the NCAA Tournament All-Final Four Team, a Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and SEC Tournament MVP. He won a national championship with the Wildcats in 1996 and was a member of the national runner-up squad in 1997. He scored 1,013 points during his two-year collegiate career before being drafted sixth overall by the Boston Celtics in the 1997 NBA Draft.
