📈 STOCK UP

🔼 It Means Amoore. The women’s basketball team welcomes Georgia Amoore to the program! Amoore is a 5’6” guard from Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. She is also an All-American graduate transfer out of Virginia Tech. Amoore averaged 18.8 points per game and 6.8 assists per game in her senior year at Virginia Tech in 2023-24. She made 85 3-pointers, which ranked second in the league and 20th in the nation.

🔼 Dominated. The Southeastern Conference named Dominic Niman Pitcher of the Week. Niman is the seventh Kentucky pitcher to win the award during Coach Nick Mingione’s eight years at the helm. Niman threw 100 pitches and allowed only one Alabama hitter to reach second base. He struck out seven, didn’t walk a player and only allowed three hits.

🔼 Madaleno Honored. Southern Orthopaedic Association named Jim Madaleno the inaugural winner of The James R. Andrews Award. Madaleno spent 14 seasons as the director of sports medicine at UK Athletics. He is currently the executive associate athletics director for sports medicine and performance. The award honors an athletic trainer for excellence and lifelong commitment to the field of sports medicine and the care of the Southeastern Conference student-athletes.

🔼 Close Series. The softball team had a tough competition this past weekend in its series against No. 13 Texas A&M. The Cats lost 5-4 and 10-9 but pulled out a 1-0 win in game three. Karissa Hamilton got the lone run in game three with her solo home run. Stephanie Schoonover pitched a complete game with 108 pitches, throwing seven strikeouts and only allowed two hits.

🔼 Two Down. The women’s tennis team faced No. 17 South Carolina and lost 4-0. They also faced Florida and lost 4-0. The team did get to celebrate its senior class— Maialen Morante and Makayla Mills.

🤔 BIG BLUE TRIVIA

National Competition. Two athletes from the rifle team are competing in the USA Shooting Junior Nationals this week.

Region Awards. The Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association named Heather McAtee Central Region Administrator of the Year and Raena Worley Central Regional Athlete of the Year. This is the third consecutive year that McAtee has earned this award.
