Big Blue Brew 9/22: Men's Soccer Beats UCF for 10th Unbeaten Home Game

The men's soccer team beat UCF 3-2 in its Sun Belt Conference opener.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Big Opener. The men’s soccer team beat UCF 3-2 in the opening match of 2025 Sun Belt Conference play. The team’s home unbeaten streak extends to 10 games. Sinan Solmaz, Isaiah Chisolm and Bertil Alban each scored. This win marked the 150th win for Johan Cedergren as the head coach for the Wildcats.

🔼 Record Day. The volleyball team finished non-conference play against Washington on Saturday. The Cats swept Washington 3-0. Eva Hudson hammered a Kentucky school three-set record of 28 kills. Her stat also marked the first time a player in NCAA Volleyball had 28 kills or more in a three-set match since 2019.

🔼 Shutout. The women’s soccer team shut out Missouri 1-0 on Sunday. Freshman Gabi Poretto stepped up to the penalty spot and drilled an 89th-minute game-winning goal. This marked her first conference goal and second overall. The Cats have now won two of their first three SEC matches, a feat that the program has not seen since 2014.

🔼 Advancing. The men’s tennis team has two athletes advancing to the ITA All-American Championship qualifying singles: Charlelie Cosnet and Eli Stephenson.

Too Fast. Former Kentucky track and field athlete Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is a world champion for the fourth time in her career! She qualified for the women’s 400m event after winning the USATF Championship. She crossed the finish line at 47.78 seconds, the second-fastest time in world history. She is the first person to win a world title in both the 400m hurdles and the 400m.
