Big Blue Brew 10/16: Oh my Ivišić!

Today, we're reviewing everything that happened at Big Blue Madness.

🔵 The Official Daily Newsletter For Kentucky Athletics

Good morning. We hope you all enjoyed Big Blue Madness and your first look at Zvonimir Ivišić. You couldn’t have missed the 7ft 2in freshman. I mean, just look at the height difference between him and coach John Calipari.

What else are we mixing into today’s Brew?

🏊 First dual meet win
🏐 Extra point extraordinaire
🔵 And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Best of Kentucky. The Cats took down Eastern Michigan 179.5-93.5 to give head coach Bret Lundgaard his first dual meet win. In all 16 events, Kentucky athletes placed first and swept the podium in nine events. Kristy Pfaff posted an NCAA Zone Qualifying mark of 286.35 on the 3-meter springboard. The team takes on Tennessee and Florida in a tri-meet event next on Nov. 4.

🔼 Fight to the Finish. Kentucky volleyball went to the Rocky Top and swept No. 10 Tennessee in three tight sets. Brooklyn DeLeye had 13 kills, and both Elise Goetzinger and Azhani Tealer had 12 kills. The women are now in second place in the SEC with a 6-1 record and have a five-match win streak. Next, the Wildcats take on Mississippi State in the Pink Game on Friday at 7 p.m.

🤔 BIG BLUE TRIVIA

In the Pool. The men’s and women’s swim and dive teams were both ranked in the first College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America Top-25 poll. The men placed 25th, and the women were right above them.

Today’s question— what place did the women get ranked in the CSCAA poll?

🔵 ONE BIG THING

Mad Cat. In case you didn’t make it to Big Blue Madness, we have everything you missed here. First off, Boogie was in the house! DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins played on John Calipari’s first Kentucky team in 2009-10 and is an NBA veteran. Antonio Reeves won the three-point contest, and Joey Hart won the dunk contest. Maddie Scherr won the three-point contest for the women, and multiple UK women’s basketball coaches made an appearance.
