Big Blue Brew 2/5: Perfect Historic Performance

The gymnastics team made history after defeating Alabama, and one athlete earned a perfect 10.000 score.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 History Made! The gymnastics team made history in its Friday meet against Alabama. For the first time in program history, the Cats defeated Alabama at Coleman Coliseum, 197.600-196.975. Raena Worley earned her second consecutive 10.000 on the floor and 24th career all-around title. The women’s vault and floor team recorded scores that tied the seventh, 49.425, and ninth best, 49.525, in program history.

🔼 Six Dubs. The No. 16 men’s tennis team was victorious against the Louisville Cardinals on Friday. The Cats won 6-1, thanks to Taha Baadi and Jack Loutit securing the doubles point. The men also won 4-3 against No. 3 Virginia. Freshman Eli Stephenson clinched the win for the Cats with his victory in the number five singles slot.

🔼 Weekend Split. The third varsity season just started for the Kentucky stunt team. The Cats finished opening weekend with a 20-10 win over Ashland and a 17-13 loss against Alma. The women jumped in the lead fast against Ashland with a 4-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. In the Alma game, the Cats were able to tie at 10-10 but weren’t able to finish with a dub.

🔵 ONE BIG THING

Senior Sweep. Swim and dive swept Cincinnati in its Senior Day meet. The women won 207-93, and the men won 186-111. This is the program’s 14th straight time sweeping the Bearcats. Overall, the Cats won 25 events and took the top three spots in the men’s 100 and 200 butterfly and the women’s 200 and 500 freestyle. Freshman Kristy Pfaff made her way into the program’s top 10 with a 3-meter score of 331.43.
