Big Blue Brew 8/22: Ready To Pounce
Today, we're seeing how Josh Kattus is performing after being cleared to practice.
🔵 The Official Daily Newsletter For Kentucky Athletics
Good morning. There’s about to be a lot to juggle with school, work, and watching Kentucky sports at the same time. Keeping three balls in the air is tough. Now imagine being thrown four more while you do it. Barion Brown thought he could juggle seven balls at once. How’d he do?
What else are we mixing into today’s Brew?

🔼 Ready For Battle. Watch out J.J. Weaver—Josh Kattus isn't afraid to take you down. Kattus finally got to put on a blue jersey after being cleared to participate in drills at practice, and he seemed pretty excited to do so.
Trevin Wallace says Kattus is bringing his intensity to practices, and head coach Mark Stoops says he’s blocking guys a foot taller and 100 pounds heavier. Back like he never left.
🔼 Getting Picky. Adversity is a word thrown around a lot in sports. With Kentucky football, head coach Mark Stoops is working on how to improve the reaction to adversity between the different groups of the team.
“I’ve never pretended to put it all on any one group,” Stoops said. “Ultimately, I have to get that out of them.”
Throughout the summer and fall preseason camps, Stoops reminds himself that the team has good work ethic and energy. There are a few things the team is working through before their game against Ball State, and you can read more about them in the link below.
🤔 BIG BLUE TRIVIA
Double ones. That’s right, there are only 11 days until the football season starts so we’re taking a look at the person who wears the sticks—Zion Childress!
Childress is entering his second year at Kentucky and the defensive back played in all 13 games last season as a transfer from Texas State.
Today’s question—against what opponent did he get his first career start?

🔵 ONE BIG THING
Record Scratch. A season-starting win for Kentucky is all thanks to this girl right here—Jordyn Rhodes. She netted the 37th goal of her career at UK, and that tied her with Annie Gage for the second-most goals in the program's history.
Her header against Eastern Kentucky was made in the 23rd minute off a cross pass from Grace Phillpotts. Not only did she put herself in the UK record books, but she also had a team-high of five shot attempts that game.
Rhodes has at least 16 more games to try and get seven or more goals to be ranked first in the record book. Think she can do it?
