Kate Powers breaks her own record twice at the Razorback Invitational.

🔵 The Official Daily Newsletter For Kentucky Athletics

Good morning. Records on top of records were being broken this past weekend. And just in case you weren’t there in person to see it, we’ve got it all right here.

What else are we mixing into today’s Brew?

🤸 Gymnastics beats Georgia
🏀 Men take down Arkansas
🔵 And much, much more!

🔼 Very Exciting. It was one exciting meet at Excite Night. The Cats took down Georgia 197.950-195.650 at home in front of over 10,000 fans. Mackenzie Wilson got the crowd roaring as she scored a perfect 10.000 on the vault, which is the first perfect score for a UK gymnast in more than 25 years. Raena Worley also got a perfect 10.000 score on her floor routine. She claimed her 23rd career all-around title with a 39.600 score.

🔼 Repeat Reeves. The No. 6 Kentucky men’s basketball topped Arkansas 63-57, and Antonio Reeves dominated the game. Last year, Reeves scored 37 points in Bud Walton Arena, and last night, he had 24. This is the 10th time this season Reeves has scored 20+ points in a game.

Reed Sheppard was the next highest-scoring Cat with 14 points. Tre Mitchell had himself a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Cats really took control of the game when they scored 12 points off of 13 Arkansas turnovers.

🔼 Perfect Timing. The swim and dive team posted five program top-ten times and won four events as the Cats competed against Louisville. Although the team lost, many athletes put their names in the record book. Ryan Merani sits at second for the 200 butterfly with a 1:42.50 time and eighth in the 100 fly. Carson Hick is the third Wildcat to ever hit under nine minutes in the 1000 freestyle. Lance Johnson is eighth in the program record book for his 1:58.24 time in the 200 backstroke.

For the women, Grace Frericks was UK’s top scorer with 12 points. Caroline Brenda is fourth in program history in the 1000 freestyle. Anna Havens Rice went 1:57.60 in the 200 butterfly for a new NCAA B-Standard.

Long Ago. The last time a perfect 10.000 was scored on vault for a Kentucky athlete was by Jenny Hansen.

3 More Records. Track and field competed at the Razorback Invitational, broke three records and had 11 personal bests over the two-day event. Kate Powers, for the second time this season, broke her own indoor women’s weight throw freshman record twice this past weekend. Her previous record was 65’0”/19.93. She beat that with a 65’4.75”/19.93m throw and then with a 65’8.25”/20.02m throw.

Freshman Ed Bird raced his first 3000m and broke the UK freshman record time with his 7:59.99 run. Senior Sydney Steely broke an eight-year-old school record in the 800m with her time of 2:03.53.
