Good morning. 🎵 Country roads, take me home 🎵 to Lexington, Kentucky, because someone once told us that all roads lead us there. Kentucky sports video made an “All Roads” video that plays at home games. Have you seen it?

What else are we mixing into today’s Brew?

🏈 Surprise Scholarship for Cole Lanter

🔵 And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Big Brain. If there is anyone on the team who deserves a football scholarship, it’s definitely this guy right here. Cole Lanter took a leap of faith after passing up scholarship opportunities to give everything he had to Kentucky football. The Boyle County native earned Dean’s List and First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll last year, and today, coach Mark Stoops awarded him with a scholarship.

🔼 Gettin’ Gibson. The women’s track & field team now has assistant coach Marvin Gibson to focus on the short sprint competitors. Gibson has a whopping 18 years of experience with past employment at LSU, Oklahoma and Clemson.

He’s trained the best of the best as he’s produced 15 Atlantic Conference champions and 33 All-American selections— five being ACC Championships MVP’s and three ACC records.

🤔 BIG BLUE TRIVIA

Strong Start. It looks like men’s soccer is just going to be repeating history with how this season has started out. The team won their first two matches of the season this past week.

Speaking of repeating—when was the last time men’s soccer won their first two matches of the season?

🔵 ONE BIG THING

Four-Speed. Kentucky produces great athletes, and four track & field alumni just proved it after earning medals at the World Athletics Championships. Alexis Holmes brought home her first gold medal in the mixed 4×400-meter relay. Daniel Roberts and Keni Harrison took bronze in the 110-meter and 100-meter hurdles.

The trio added three medals to Team USA’s bucket of 29 championship medals, which includes 12 gold.

There is one more Kentucky alumni who earned a medal, although this one went to team Puerto Rico. Jasmine Camacho-Quinn earned silver in the women’s 100-meter hurdles.
